ServiceNow IT Applications Solution Architect

The opportunity
Senior hands-on ServiceNow Solution Architect needed for a 12-month remote contract to design and implement enterprise solutions across CMDB, CSDM, ITSM, and Now Assist.
We are seeking a hands-on ServiceNow Solution Architect to lead the implementation, configuration, and integration of enterprise applications for a Washington, DC-based client. This role involves designing scalable solutions, developing custom functionality, and collaborating with enterprise stakeholders to deliver platform enhancements across a broad range of modules including CMDB, IRM, and AI-driven capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement ServiceNow applications and platform capabilities.
- Lead technical implementations of new ServiceNow products and modules.
- Configure and optimize the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Implement and maintain Common Service Data Model (CSDM) standards.
- Support the configuration and adoption of ServiceNow Now Assist capabilities.
- Configure and enhance Integrated Risk Management (IRM) modules.
- Implement and optimize IT Service Management (ITSM) workflows and processes.
- Design and develop custom ServiceNow applications, workflows, and automation.
- Build and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and external enterprise systems.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, infrastructure, security, and application teams.
- Troubleshoot complex platform issues and recommend technical improvements.
- Develop solution documentation, technical designs, and implementation standards.
- Ensure ServiceNow configurations follow platform best practices and remain scalable and maintainable.
Key Requirements (What We're Looking For)
- Extensive hands-on experience with ServiceNow platform development, configuration, and implementation.
- Proven experience implementing new ServiceNow applications or modules.
- Strong knowledge of CMDB architecture, configuration, and maintenance.
- Experience implementing or aligning solutions with CSDM.
- Experience with ServiceNow ITSM modules and workflow development.
- Deep expertise in ServiceNow scripting, custom development, and automation.
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, integrations, and platform best practices.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience implementing ServiceNow Now Assist or other ServiceNow AI capabilities.
- Experience configuring Integrated Risk Management (IRM) modules.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications.
- Experience with Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes, and REST/SOAP integrations.
- Experience with ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB integrations.
- Experience working in large enterprise ServiceNow environments.
Who We're NOT Looking For
- This is not a purely functional or advisory architecture position; candidates must be comfortable working directly within the platform to configure and develop.
Location & Work Authorization
- Remote (Supporting a Washington, DC-Based Client).
Engagement Details
- Duration: 12+ Months.
- Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
- Rate: Up to $80/hr.
